Anticipation is already building amongst racing fans, ahead of the next Formula One season. The big question many are asking is also whether we will again see the dominance of both Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, as they again look to land both the Constructors and Drivers championships. Mercedes have opened up as the general 2/9 favourites for the Constructors title and are proving a popular selection for many punters, who have been using the coral bonus that is on offer at present. It is little surprise that they are such short odds, as they have won the last seven in a row dating back to 2014, when they ended the four-year winning run of the Red Bull team. 2020 also saw Mercedes finish with 573 points, putting them 254 clear of second placed Red Bull, which further shows the dominance of the team. They now go into the 2021 season as the overwhelming favourites and it would come as a major shock, were any other side able to improve and even challenge Mercedes.

It was a similar story when it came to the Driver standings in 2020, with Mercedes again finishing 1-2 with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. This saw Hamilton finish with 347 points and then Bottas on 223, with Max Verstappen back in third with 214 points. Bottas now goes into the current season as the general 11/2 third favourite for the title, with Max Verstappen next in at 5/1. However, it is again set to be all about Lewis Hamilton, who is available at odds of 2/5. This again looks a very attractive betting proposition, considering he has now won for each of the last four seasons, coming in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The 36-year-old is also now a seven-time winner, which puts him joint top in the driver’s championship with Michael Schumacher. There is no doubting he will now be aiming to surpass this prior to his retirement and firmly establish himself as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
It does not appear that we are set to see any major changes moving into the next season, so it would look very likely that both Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton will again dominate in 2021 and land the short odds listed. The victory would continue the remarkable run of the Mercedes team and also mean that Hamilton would sit top of the standings for the most championships in the history of F1. It now sets up for a fascinating season ahead.
