History of Silverstone Racecourse

Silverstone racecourse is the hub for British Formula One, with a driving experiences centre, on top of a Porsche centre and handling track and an Aston Martin test and development centre. This is why it has long stood as the home of British motor racing and this does not appear likely to change any time soon, following a further extension to the Grand Prix contract recently. The motor circuit has been used annually for the Grand Prix since back in 1987, having also previously held a race back in 1948. The British Grand Prix was also held at Silverstone in 1950, before moving to several other venues and then finally back from 1987.

2020 has been an extremely difficult year for sport and Formula One has been another badly affected. The season has now finally resumed and Silverstone has already been selected to host a number of additional events. These will be two Formula one World Championship races on 2020, with each behind closed doors, due to the pandemic. Similar to what has been happening with all others sports around the world in order for their safe and successful returns. Each will be taking place in August, with the second being a race to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Grand Prix. This is expected to be a well-supported and important event for Formula one.
